DU Sada Dal urges voters to back patriotic party
DU CORRESPONDENT | Monday, 9 February 2026
Ahead of the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) election, the Dhaka University (DU) Sada Dal, pro-BNP teachers' organisation, has urged citizens to vote for a patriotic party that upholds the spirit of the Liberation War and the July mass uprising, and has proven experience in governing the state.
Prof Dr Md Abdus Salam, joint convener of the organisation, made the call while reading out a written statement at a press conference on the university campus on Sunday afternoon.
He said the goal is to build a stable, prosperous, democratic, and dignified Bangladesh, noting that the 2024 mass uprising created a historic opportunity for such a transformation, and that the responsibility of governing the country should go to a party with proven experience and a long-term vision for the nation's future.
He further stated that the 2024 uprising reminded the nation that no system of governance can be sustainable if it ignores the will of the people.
He warned that authoritarian governance, centralised power, restrictions on freedom of expression, and actions undermining the credibility of elections go against the spirit of Bangladesh's Liberation War.
The press conference was conducted by Sada Dal's Member Secretary Prof Dr Mohiuddin. Joint Convener Prof Dr Abul Kalam Sarkar, Treasurer Prof Dr Md Al-Amin, Central Leader Prof Dr Abdur Rashid, and others were present at the event.
