DU sells record no. of admission forms

Dhaka University (DU) has earned Tk 31 million this year by selling a record-number of application forms for first-year honours admission test under the academic year 2007-08.
Bank sources said that some 1, 25,013 admission forms in four units have been sold from three branches of Agrani, Janata and Sonali banks on the DU campus. The figure was 1, 10,000 last year. Each of the forms has been sold at Tk 250.
Of the total, some 27,908 admission forms have been sold in Ka unit while 26,708 in Kha unit, 25,122 in Ga unit and 45,275 in Gha unit.
As per the statistics, 23 candidates will vie for each seat at the admission tests in Ka (science group), Kha (arts group), Ga (business studies) and Gha (combined group) units on an average as some 5,560 students will be enrolled in 56 departments and three institutes.
Admission tests of Ga unit will be held on November 30 while Ka unit on December 7, Gha unit on January 4 and Kha unit on January 11.
