Wednesday, 7 November 2007

Uttaradhikar-71, a platform of common students of Dhaka University, Tuesday launched a signature collection campaign, demanding punishment of the war criminals of 1971, reports UNB.
Prior to launching the signature campaign, the Uttaradhikar-71 members held a general meeting on the premises of Arts Building.
The meeting, attended by several hundred students, urged the university students, teachers and employees to make the campaign a success.
The campaign will continue from November 6 to 15.
The DU students at the meeting urged Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed to put the anti-liberation elements on trial under the International Crimes Tribunal 1973.
The meeting called upon the government to realise compensation from the Pakistan government for killing millions of Bangladeshis and damaging national property worth 18,800 million US dollars.
They also demanded a ban on the politics of Jamaat-e-Islam for collaborating with the Pakistani army in killing innocent people and raping women.
