The five students, who snatched money and a mobile phone from a florist on October 31, were suspended from Dhaka University (DU) Tuesday.
DU Proctor KM Saiful Islam Khan said the five students had been temporarily expelled as they have tarnished the image of the university by mugging a flower trader.
The suspended students can't attend classes but can appear at the examinations with special permission, the proctor said.
