The Dhaka University (DU) Syndicate has axed 2 ineligible lecturers at the Urdu department following allegations of irregularities in their recruitment. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the university’s top decision-making body on Wednesday night, its member Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed said. ‘Though initially three were selected, later Sayeba Jerin and Masum Sheikh have been dropped for not fulfilling the criteria of the recruitment,’ he said. However, one Hafsa Aktar has been selected for the job for meeting the pre-requisites, according to a news agency.
