DU teacher Dr Saiful Islam faces probe

Dhaka University (DU) authorities have formed a 5-member probe committee to investigate the allegation of sexual harassment of a female student by suspended chairman of the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies Prof Dr Saiful Islam. The DU syndicate at a meeting formed the probe body, Dr Nur-e-Islam, director (acting) of DU Public Relations Office, has said. The probe body members are DU pro-vice chancellor (admin) Prof Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain, dean of Social Science Faculty Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, provost of Sir PJ Hartog hall Prof Lutfar Rahman, Supreme Court lawyer AFM Misbahuddin and teacher of English Department Nilima Akhter. The committee was asked to submit its report to the DU authorities by Nov 30, according to a news agency.
