DU teacher passes away

Chairman of Urdu Department of the Dhaka University (DU) Umme Salma passed away Saturday morning at the age of 61 at Apollo Hospital in Kolkata.
She was suffering from various ailments, including kidney and heart diseases along with diabetes.
Her namaj-e-janaza will be held after Zohr prayers today (Sunday) on the premises of DU central mosque after the deadbody to be returned here likey at the early hours today.
She left behind her husband, two sons, one daughter, host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death.
DU Vice-Chancellor SMA Faiz, Pro-VC AFM Yusuf Haider, Treasurer Syed Abul Kalam Azad and the teachers of DU Urdu Department expressed their deep shock at the death of Salma.
Salma joined the Department of Urdu and Persian of DU in 1974.
She was awarded special honour in the international Persian conference-2006 for her outstanding contribution to the research of Urdu and Persian languages.
