DU to open three new faculties next year

Dhaka University (DU) is likely to open three new faculties from the next academic year to reflect all aspects of knowledge and practice at the university.
The proposed faculties include --- Faculty of Fine Arts now known as Institute of Fine Arts, Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
About launching three new faculties, DU Vice-Chancellor SMA Faiz said the challenge of DU was multidimensional and massive in respect of creating and disseminating specialised knowledge.
"Opening new faculties and departments is a part of generating skilled manpower to address the challenges to the world civilisation and animal diversity", Faiz added.
At present, there are 54 departments under seven faculties and nine institutes at the university.
