DU VC for commission to identify conspirators of August 15

Dhaka University (DU) vice-chancellor (VC) Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique recommended Friday formation of a commission to identify the conspirators behind the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other members of his family, reports UNB.
The DU VC made the recommendation while addressing a discussion on "Life and Works of Bangabandhu" at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) auditorium on the occasion of the National Mourning Day.
The DU VC said the conspirators involved in the assassinations of Bangabandhu on August 15, 1975, as well as those involved in the killing of four national leaders later on must be identified.
The traitors should be unmasked to make us aware about them, he added.
Dhaka University pro-vice chancellor (admin) Prof Dr Shahid Akter Hussain, its treasurer Prof Dr Kamal Uddin, Dhaka University Teachers Association president Farid Uddin Ahmed spoke at the programme.
Earlier on the day, a Dhaka University convoy led by the vice- chancellor paid their homage to Bangabandhu by placing flower bouquet on Bangabandhu's Mural in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the city's Dhanmondi area.
BSS report adds: Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur (BRUR) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr AKM Nurun Nabi said 'Joy Bangla' was not a party slogan but an existence that always unites the nation to stand in one line.
The VC said this while addressing a discussion arranged on the university campus in observance of the National Mourning Day-2014 and the 39th anniversary of martyrdom of architect of independence and father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The university authority chalked out programmes, including wearing black badges, placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the Independence Memorial on the campus, mourning procession and discussion on Bangabandhu.
The students, teachers, officials and staffs of the university took part in the mourning procession led by VC Prof Nurun Nabi and doa mahfil in the morning.
A one-minute silence was observed in front of the portrait of Bangabandhu and special munajats were offered seeking divine blessings for the departed souls of Bangabandhu and all other martyrs of black night of August 15 in 1975.
The VC along with the deans of different faculties, heads of different departments, teachers, students and officials first placed wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the Independence Memorial.
Later, Begum Rokeya University Teachers' Association (BRUTA), Bangabandhu Parishad, Muktijuddher Chetonay Pragotisheel Shikkhok Samaj, Blue Group Teachers, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall and other organisations also placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
