DU wears festive look ahead of 48th Convocation

Dhaka University (DU), the country’s oldest public university, is in a festive mood ahead of its 48th Convocation to be held on Monday. Main entrances of the campus have been decorated with colourful makeshift gates that convey warm welcome to the graduates, guests and others. The campus has turned lively and vibrant with new graduates, faculty members and many alumni who are going to take part in the convocation. DU vice chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique briefed the media about the preparation of the Convocation at the Registrar Building on Saturday. President Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of the university, will formally inaugurate the function at the central playground of the university on Monday morning, he said. Prof Rolf Heur, director general of European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), will attend as the Convocation Speaker, the VC said, according to a news agency.
