DUJA elects new committee

Md Mahbubur Rahman of the Amar Desh and Shahjahan Shuvo of the Inqilab have respectively been elected president and general secretary of Dhaka University Journalists' Association (DUJA) for the year 2007-08.
A three-member election committee with Channel-I planning editor and former DUJA secretary Saleh Shiblee, Channel-I USA representative and former DUJA secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan and teacher of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology also a former president of DUJA Sahabul Haque Sabu conducted the election at DUJA office Thursday.
Other office bearers of the nine-member executive committee of DUJA are Shefarul Sheikh of the Bhorer Kagoz (vice president), Sohel Mamun of the Bhorer Dak (joint secretary), Jamal Uddin Jami of the New Nation (office secretary), Md Iqbal Hossain of the BSS (finance secretary) and executive members Rakib Ahmed of the News Today, Solaiman Tusher of the Manobjamin and Moidul Islam of the Amader Somoy.
All of the 30 members of DUJA cast their votes in the election. The election was held with permission from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
