Duminy dropped as S Africa bat
Tuesday, 25 May 2010
Having won two Twenty20s and the opening ODI comprehensively after being asked to bat first, Graeme Smith won his first toss of the series and opted to stick with the formula, reports cricinfo website Monday.
There are, however, changes for both sides as they look to reassert themselves and rebuild to next year's World Cup. South Africa have left out the struggling JP Duminy who has failed to regain his composure after being exposed by the short ball. Alviro Petersen, who followed impressive one-day performances against England with a century on Test debut against India in February, comes into the side.
West Indies have finally resigned to the fact that Andre Fletcher is not up to standard at this level. They have tried him up and down the order, with and without the wicketkeeping gloves, but since his last innings of any substance - 48 against Canada in April - he has made 55 runs in seven international innings at an average of 9.17.
