Dusts meet with strong demand

Thursday, 6 May 2010

There was again a small quantity offered in last week's tea auction which met with a very strong demand, especially the brighter teas, according to a communiqué of National Brokers Limited.
Blenders operated strongly whilst there was greater competition from the loose tea buyers. As a result prices were much higher than the previous week. Dusts met with a strong demand.
CTC Leaf: 6,221 packages and 76 packages of old season on offer met with much strong demand at higher rates.
Brokens/Fannings: Good liquoring types strongly competed for and advanced by Tk 2.0 to Tk 5.0 per kg whilst mediums advanced sharply often by Tk 5.0 to Tk 10.0 per kg particularly in the Fannings category.
The best Brokens sold between Tk 174 and Tk 179 per kg whilst best fannings between Tk 175 and Tk 182 per kg.
CTC Dust: 888 packages and 6 packages of old season on offer met with a strong demand.
Good liquoring RDs were a good market and generally sold at last levels. Their corresponding D were also a good market but tended a little easier.
Medium Plainer RDs/Ds were mostly a firm market. CDs were a little easier. Loose tea buyers operated quite strongly with good support from Blenders.
