Dusts stronger at dearer rates

Thursday, 31 December 2009

A larger quantity on offer was strongly competed for by all sections of the market and consequently prices appreciated for all clean liquoring varieties. Blenders operated in greater strength and there was fairly good support from the Loose tea buyers. There was improved enquiry from Pakistan.
Dusts were a stronger market at dearer rates.
CTC Leaf: 30,189 packages and 110 packages of old season on offer met with a stronger demand at higher rates.
BROKENS: Good liquoring Brokens strongly competed for and were generally dearer by Tk 2.0 to Tk 4.0 particularly the smaller types and these could be quoted between Tk 158 and Tk 163. The remainders were also a stronger market and were generally firm to slightly dearer. However, the plainest tended easier.
FANNINGS: Good liquoring Fannings were a stronger market and were mostly dearer by Tk 2.0 to Tk 4.0 and these could be quoted between Tk 160 and Tk 165. Others were also stronger. The plainest were generally a dearer feature.
CTC Dust: 4,619 packages and 20 packages of old season on offer met with a strong demand at mostly dearer rates. Better liquoring varieties were keenly competed for and were dearer by up to Tk 10 and sometimes more. All others were fully firm to occasionally dearer following quality. Poorest varieties were slightly easier. Internal buyers particularly the Blenders lent strong support with selective export interest for the best varieties.
