DUTA urges BNP to take part in national polls

The Dhaka University Teachers' Association (DUTA) has exhorted the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to participate in the upcoming general election.
They made the call from a human chain formed at the plinth of Aparajeyo Bangla on the campus on Tuesday in protest against the recent political violence.
DU vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, pro-VC (academic) Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, treasurer Prof Mamatz Uddin Ahmed, DUTA president Prof Dr Nizamul Hoque Bhuiyan and general secretary Prof Dr Zeenat Huda, among others, joined the event.
VC Prof Akhtaruzzaman said, "We've stood here against the politics of violence, terrorism and anarchy in Bangladesh. The country should be run in compliance with the constitution."
"The government will also be formed by the constitution," he maintained.
DUTA president Prof Bhuiyan said, "There is no process of changing the government without elections. So, we urge the BNP and other parties to join the election process."
