Dutch-Bangla Bank receives CSR award

CHITTAGONG, July 20: Southern University Bangladesh (SUB) conferred Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) award on the Dutch-Bangla Bank (DBBL) for its immense contribution to different fields in the society.
On behalf of the DBBL, Managing Director M Yesin Ali received the award from the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Bodiur Rahman in a colourful function arranged on the occasion of handing over CSR award at hotel Agrabad in the city on Thursday evening.
Speaking as the chief guest, NBR chairman said, efficiency, transparency and accountability are inevitable for conducting the affairs of any organisation. He expressed his thanks to the SUB authority for arranging the CSR award distribution function.
While receiving the award with gratitude, DBBL Managing Director said, an appreciable portion of the total profit earned by the bank is spent on education and healthcare sector and mitigating the needs of the destitute of the society through Dutch-Bangla Foundation.
In this connection he mentioned that taka 40 million was distributed as scholarships specially among the meritorious rural students including female students last year.
SUB Vice Chancellor AJM Nuruddin Chowdhury in his address as president expressed his thanks to the DBBL authority for their laudable contribution in the different sectors of the society. He also expressed his optimism that the SUB would continue similar activities for the greater welfare of the society in future.
CSR committee chairman and SUB Founder Sarwar Jahan in his address discussed on different aspects of the University and told the audience that it has been closely linked with the different welfare activities since the very inception of the University.
The function was largely attended by the local elit and addressed among others by SUB pro VC Sharfuzzaman, Masud Brothers Mana-ging Director Abul Bashar Chowdhury, and Abulkhair Group Executive Director Khairul Alam.
