Dy speaker distributes relief in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Sept 1 (BSS): Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangshad Advocate Fazley Rabbi Miah has distributed relief materials among flood victims of Fulchhari and Shaghata upazilas here going to their houses by boats.
According to official sources with the rising of water level in the river Brahmaputra, almost all the unions of the upazilas were inundated creating untold sufferings to the people living chars and river basin areas.
The deputy speaker on Saturday distributed relief materials including chira, gur worth Taka 1.5 lakh and cash Taka 50,000 to the affected people of Fazlupur, Gozaria, Fulchhari unions under Fulchhari upazila and Holdia and Shaghata unions of Shaghata upazila from his personal fund.
Apart from it, the flood victims of the upazilas also got 18 metric tons of rice and Taka 1.70 lakh from the Ministry of Relief and Disaster Management on the same day, said acting disaster and relief rehabilitation officer and assistant commissioner Nazmul Huda.
Upazila chairmen, UNOs, upazila lelvel officials and political leaders including journalists of print and electronic media accompanied the deputy speaker during the relief distribution.
