DYD disburses Tk 36.47m

BRAHMANBARIA, Aug 11, 2007: The Department of Youth Development (DYD) disbursed loans totalling over Tk 36.47 million (Tk 3.647 crore) among 3714 unemployed youths in 8 upazilas of the district in last five years, sources said.
An official of the department said, the financial assistance was given for making those young people self-reliant through projects like cattle and goat rearing, pisciculture, agriculture, poultry farming, tailoring, buying computers etc.
Of the total, Tk 49,46,000 was disbursed in Nasirnagar among 352 borrowers, Tk 57,32,000 in Sarail among 496 borrowers, Tk 49,00,00 in Ashuganj among 16 borrowers, Tk 53,58,000 in Sadar among 299 borrowers, Tk 43,16,000 in Akhaura among 876 borrowers, Tk 53,53,000 in Kasba among 362 borrowers, Tk 47,52,200 in Nabinagar among 648 borrowers and Tk 55,23,500 in Banchharampur among 665 borrowers.
Recipients were given Tk 5000 to Tk 10,000 each initially for starting an individual project of their choice.
