E-commerce emphasised for marketing of local items

CHITTAGONG, Apr 20: There is no alternative to e-commerce in creating global demand for local products.
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Chittagong Regional Director Md Golam Mostafa said this in his address of welcome at a seminar on 'E-Commerce in export trade' arranged under the auspices of EPB Chittagong at its conference room Saturday.
Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CWCCI) President Manwara Hakim Ali was the chief guest on the occasion.
Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Abu Sayed Chowdhury was the resource person in the seminar.
EPB director said e-commerce means the transaction of different goods through internet and other computer-based network and the EPB depends on e-commerce or e-business system to a great extent for expanding volume of business globally.
He said e-commerce helps create market for any local product across the world and thus economy of Bangladesh would strengthen gradually.
