E-commerce platform Padda Bazar launched

A new e-commerce platform named Padda Bazar was launched on Saturday aiming to meet the growing demand for online retail in the country.
The entrepreneurs of the platform expressed hope that the new platform will help the local e-commerce sector gain consumers trust through better service using latest technologies.
The launching ceremony of the digital commerce platform -- paddabazar.com --was held at a city hotel.
Planning Minister MA Mannan was the chief guest of the event. He could not attend the event in-person. He sent a video message for the audience.
The minister said new generation businesses, e-commerce and start-ups are coming into operations creating new economic opportunities in the country.
"Customers are also showing greater interest to e-commerce nowadays," he said and added: "However, there have been several untoward incidences with e-commerce, which we don't expect."
In his welcome speech, Chairman of the e-commerce Roysul Khan said Padda Bazar (PB) will be a new milestone in the country's digital commerce journey.
"Our e-commerce will ensure a better position among consumers through its quality services," said Mr Khan, a non-resident Bangladeshi.
They have also plan to become a multinational platform following expanding services across the country.
Replying to a query, he said they have already been affiliated with a good number of Australian merchants to sell their products through the site.
Managing Director of the e-commerce entity Iqbal Hossain said the company is registered as a private limited company
It has started its journey securing all required approvals from the authorities concerned, Mr Hossain said.
High-ups, entrepreneurs, professionals and media representatives attended the launching ceremony.
