E-commerce potential

Thursday, 12 September 2019

A large number of people, we see while travelling to India, enjoy shopping online. About 28 per cent smartphone users do online shopping in India and the rate is 12 per cent in Pakistan. In Bangladesh, only 6.0 per cent of smartphone users are regularly making purchases from online shops. Another 5.0 per cent purchase from online sources, but less frequently. In view of the market potential, we think, the government can train e-commerce entrepreneurs so that the market growth accelerates. Big companies may then come forward to grab e-market share with quality products and attractive prices. Many people express their dissatisfaction on the social media about online shopping. In fact, there are issues of quality and trust to improve services. Some e-commerce sites are gaining popularity in the meantime. What we now need to do is improve regulation alongside creation of opportunities.
