E-passport to reduce harassment?

Tuesday, 14 January 2020

Introduction of electronic passport or e-passport service is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 22. Initially, it will be provided from Agargaon, Jatrabari and Uttara passport offices in the capital before expansion of the programme elsewhere. E-passport formalities ar supposed to be much simple since some documents required now will no longer be required for securing e-passports.
Passport will be available within 21 working days if police clearance is available. There will be a helpline to make sure that none is harassed. Such assistance will prevent bribery in the process of verification and issuance of passports. Hopefully, e-passport will reduce people's suffering while securing their passports.
