E-services stressed to help linking public offices, general people

RAJSHAHI, Jun 22 (BSS): Substantial and sustainable promotion of e-services has become an urgent need for linking up the public offices and general people, speakers at a press-briefing said.
They viewed people will avail their requisite services easily in one hand and revenue income of the government from the respective service sectors will be enhanced on the other hand if all the civic service sectors are transformed into e-services.
Besides, there is no alternative to public motivation in order to capacity building and development of digital Bangladesh in field level.
District Information Office (DIO) organized the e-service and National Web Portal related media briefing at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner on Saturday to mark the opening of Public Service Week-2014.
Deputy Commissioner-in-Charge of Rajshahi Dr Dewan Shahriar Firoj, Deputy Director DIO Farhad Hossain, Editor of Daily Sunshine Tasiqul Islam Bakul and Editor of Daily Sonali Sangbad Liakat Ali spoke on the occasion discussing ways and means of how to make the e-services more expanded and pro- people.
Assistant Programmer of Deputy Commissioner's Office Nazmul Islam presented a briefing paper highlighting the aspects of Public Service Week, National Web and so far achievement of the government in terms of expansion of Information and Communication Technology.
Some other issues like evaluation of the achievements towards building digital Bangladesh, expansion of the installed infrastructure and creating public awareness in this regard were also discussed in the briefing.
The speakers said successful promotion of e-services in the government level is very effective to bring dynamism, transparency and accountability in the civic services.
People now know about the digital Bangladesh, but most of them are not aware of the services and benefit of the process they would be enjoying in future.
Besides, the on-going digitization process is creating opportunity of self-employment across the country. The digitization process had already created scope of employment and income generation in various ways including outsourcing, selling products through e-shop and offering different services at the Union Information Service Centres (UISCs).
