E-ticket service in our Railways

Monday, 16 February 2015

The Bangladesh Railway is a state-owned rail transport body of Bangladesh. It runs and maintains the entire railway network of the country. It launched its online internet ticket service to ease the sufferings of the passengers. Railway Minister Obaidul Kader unveiled the online ticketing service at the Railway headquarters on May 29, 2012. Passengers can buy online tickets by using their Visa and Master Cards, Debit and Credit cards of any bank. On an average, about 65 million passengers avail of railway service in a year. But until recently, all these people had to suffer regularly due to black marketing of tickets by syndicated groups.  E-ticket service has of course brought a lot of relief for them. Now any person can purchase tickets online for his/her destination.
I also suffered a lot in the past. Therefore, I give below the online ticketing process for those who might have missed the government announcement regarding the same.
Register yourself with your cell phone number, book online and your ticket details will then be emailed to you instantly after payment through your VISA/MASTER/DBBL Nexus cards. Print it out and bring the registered cell phone and the card you used to purchase the ticket along with you to the station at least 15 minutes prior to your journey. There are specially designated counters at online stations where e-tickets can be printed and delivered to you.
