Each upazila will have a public library: Azad

NATORE, Oct 7 (BSS): The government will establish at least one public library in each upazila, said Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad while inaugurating a public library here Friday.
"Now there are around 64 public libraries at district level and 47 libraries have their own buildings. The number of libraries would increase with the setting up of more libraries in the upazilas," he said as the chief guest at the function.
Deputy Commissioner Md Mojibor Rahman chaired the function, said a press release.
"The government of Sheikh Hasina is working heart and soul to make 'sonar Bangla', as dreamt by Bangabandhu, eliminating militancy," he said adding, " golden jubilee of independence will be celebrated in 2021 in the environment when digitized Bangladesh will turn into a middle- income country."
Member of Parliament Advocate Junaid Ahmed, Public Library Director Md Nur Hossain Talukder, General Secretary of district Awami League Advocate Shajedur Rahman Khan, Advocate Shirajul Islam, Qaiumuzzaman Khan, Nasima Banu also spoke on the occasion.
