Early marriage bid foiled in Chuadanga

Our Correspondent CHUADANGA, Apr 18: The Chuadanga sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mr Abul Amin in village Kundipur under Chuadanga sadar upazila of the district foiled an early marriage bid and saved a 14-year old schoolgirl from the attempt Wednesday. UNO office sources said the marriage of Tuhina Akhter Brishti, a student of class nine Kukiyachadpur high school in Chuadanga, and daughter of Tota Mia of the area was fixed with Abdul Hamid son of Mofij Ali April 17, 2013. The parents took all preparation for the marriage. On information, Mr. Abul Amin Chuadanga, UNO of sadar upazila along with NGO's workers rushed to the spot and discussed with the girl's parents about the adverse effects of early marriage. The UNO also fined the girls grandfather Bachchu Ali Tk 1000.
