Early-winter cauliflower growers expect good profit in Bogura

BOGURA, Sept 03: Early-winter cauliflower cultivators in the district are expecting a good profit this season.
Due to favourable weather condition and timely supply of necessary agri-inputs, the saplings of the vegetable are growing well.
Most the farmers will start harvesting the item from the last week of October.
The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said over 50 hectares of land have been targeted to bring under the farming of early-winter cauliflower this season.
Early-winter vegetable cultivation is profitable as the cultivators can make good profit from it.
DAE officials said over 10,000 farmers in the district are engaged in growing the vegetable this year.
Merai, Gunaher Dawakola, Pauta, Daspara, Utholy, Banduria Sadullapur, Gunaher, Banduriti, Meari, Muroui, Damgara, Pakulla, Purbasijaitpur, Boaril and Fapore villages of the district are well-known for growing quality cauliflower.
Altaf Hossain, a farmer of Rohobol village under Shibgonj upazila, said he has brought around 0.30 hectares of land under cauliflower farming this season spending Tk 13,000.
Deputy Director of DAE Nikhil Chandra Bisawas said, "We encourage the growers to expand the cultivation of early-cauliflower to make more profit."
