KATHMANDU, Sept 16 (Xinhua): An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 was felt in various parts of Nepal on Wednesday early morning as many citizens in the capital Kathmandu were suddenly awakened by the powerful tremor.
According to Nepal's National Seismological Center, the epicenter of the earthquake was at Ramche area of Sindhupalchok district in northern Nepal.
Baburam Khanal, an assistant of the chief district officer of Sindhupalchok told Xinhua over the phone that no human casualties and physical damages were reported as of early morning.
"We have asked the elected representatives at local levels to notify urgently if the tremor affected geological conditions of any areas since the area is vulnerable to landslide and flood," said Khanal.
Sindhupalchok district saw the largest casualties in the deadly earthquake struck in 2015, which killed nearly 9,000 people.
