Sunday, 26 October 2008

Chief Adviser (CA) Fakhruddin Ahmed Saturday said the easy availability of Bangladesh Code and Laws of Bangladesh for the people and all concerned would help expedite the efforts to build a just and enlightened society, reports UNB.
"It's one of the basic responsibilities of the sate, that means the government, to inform the people about the existing laws to ensure good governance and establish justice," he said.
The head of the caretaker government was formally inaugurating the launching of a website of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry on Laws of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Code in the city.
He also unveiled the cover of a CD on Laws of Bangladesh.
Fakhruddin said this step would be able to play a significant role in giving an overall idea of the latest laws of the country to the people of all walks of life, not only the persons involved in the legal profession.
In this regard, he drew attention of all concerned to compile the country's all rules and regulations and policy guidelines, and put those on the website as soon as possible.
The CA said inauguration of the website and putting all existing laws of the country into a CD is an epoch-making step in establishing good governance and justice.
All the existing laws and updated laws since 1836 until the date have been posted on the newly launched website.
Earlier in November 12, 2007, Bangladesh Code containing a total of 956 all the updated existing laws of Bangladesh from 1836 to January 2007 was released in 38 volumes.
Law Adviser AF Hassan Ariff presided over the function, while Law Secretary Kazi Habibul Awal made the welcome address.
Advisers, judges, lawyers, government officials were, among others, present at the function.
