EBL, DUAA launch financial grant programme

Eastern Bank Ltd (EBL) in cooperation with Dhaka University Alumni Association (DUAA) has launched a financial grant programme titled 'EBL and DUAA Inspiration' for the students of DU.
Under the programme, EBL will provide some 224 students from the total 56 departments of DU with Tk 2,500 each every year as scholarship bringing the total amount to Tk 0.56 million.
Four students each from the four academic years (second-year to masters) from every department will be selected for the scholarship on the basis of their academic results.
EBL Managing Director and CEO Ali Reza Iftekhar and DUAA Secretary General Raquibuddin Ahmed signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard at the DU senate building Thursday on behalf of their respective sides.
DU vice-chancellor SMA Faiz was present as the chief guest at the MoU signing ceremony with DUAA president and former adviser Syed Manzur Elahi was in the chair.
Former chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) M Asaduzzaman, DU former vice-chancellors Mohammad Moniruzzaman Miah and Anwarullah Chowdhury, among others, attended.
Initially the duration of the agreement is five years, renewable for a further five years if deemed fruitful on review by both EBL and DUAA.
