The leading mobile phone service operator Banglalink in partnership with the Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) is going to launch SME Help Line for its subscribers by the month end.
The two companies have signed an agreement recently on the initiative, which would see the telecom giant and the EBL join their hands together in development of the country's SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) sector as well as create a bridge between their respective SME clients and subscribers.
Chief Commercial Officer of Banglalink Omer Rashid and EBL Managing Director and CEO Ali Reza Iftekhar signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies at a city hotel Wednesday.
As a result of this agreement, Banglalink is going to launch the "Banglalink-EBL SME Helpline" on November 28, which would assist the callers with all sorts of essential information regarding the SME sector.
"With 80 per cent of the country's business ventures falling into the category of SMEs, this has been a timely initiative on the part of the EBL to patronise the country's highly potential SME sector," EBL Managing Director and CEO Ali Reza Iftekhar said.
"This alliance between EBL and Banglalink would help the SMEs by providing a combination of financial and communication solutions," Bangalink Chief Commercial Officer Omer Rashid said.
As part of the deal, the two entities would also organise joint training, workshops and seminars on issues regarding development of the SME sector in near future.
EBL as a bank has long been engaged in SME banking which currently offers seven unique loan and deposit products to its SME segment customers through a total of 30 branches and 7 SME centres and sub-centres networked all over the country.
Banglalink, on the other hand, boasts to be the only telecom operator in Bangladesh to offer a special SME package which caters to the communication need of the SMEs along with various value-added services.
