EC allows 120 candidates to contest polls

After the four-day hearing of the appeals, the Election Commission (EC) has allowed 120 candidates to contest the December 29 election, reports UNB.
EC sources indicated the prospect of allowing more candidates to contest after hearing of the appeals.
The Returning Officers had cancelled 557 nominations during the scrutiny.
Chief Election Commission Dr ATM Shamsul Huda along with other two commissioners -- Brig Gen (redt) Sakhawat Hossain and M Sahul Hossain, continued hearing of the appeals against cancellation of nomination papers on the fourth day Thursday.
