EC cancels Jamaat's registration

The Election Commission (EC) cancelled on Monday the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami in line with a High Court verdict. The EC has made the move following a High Court verdict that declared Jamaat-e-Islami's registration "illegal" on a writ petition. In a gazette notification published on Monday, the EC cancelled Jamaat's registration as per "the sub clause (4) of Article 90H of Representation of the People Order, 1972 (as amended up to date)".  — BSS
