Election Commissioner Brig Gen (retd) M Sakhawat Hussain said this while exchanging views on electoral roll at the local Shilpakala Academy today (Wednesday).
"The work on voters' list is going on in those areas to achieve the target," he added.
The task of preparing the voters' list would simultaneously start in 76 upazilas of 64 districts on November 4 and it would be completed countrywide in October next, he said.
The election commissioner said the parliamentary elections would be held within the timeline announced by the EC.
About participation of political parties in the elections, he said, "It's none of the Election Commission's business to consider which political party is participating in the polls and which not," he added.
Replying to a question, he said the EC had brought amendments to those matters relating to vote selling in exchange of black money.
Among others, District Commanding Officer Dewan Ali Akbar, Deputy Commissioner of the district M Toslimul Islam, Superintendent of Police HM Rokonuddin, Municipality Chairman M Delwar Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abu Saleh M Ferdous Khan and District Election Officer Khorshed Alam were present at the meeting.
