EC not ready for DCC polls in Jan

The Election Commission (EC) does not have preparations to organise elections to the bifurcated Dhaka City Corporations in January, reports bdnews24.com.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad says the EC needs more time.
His comments came Tuesday in response to questions on media reports claiming the prime minister had ordered organising the polls by early next month.
Unconfirmed reports say that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the local government ministry to hold elections at Monday's regular Cabinet meeting.
However, the Cabinet secretary did not say anything about it in the press briefing.
CEC Ahmad, at an abrupt media call at his office, said, "Why should we organise [DCC] elections in January? We need time.
