
EC to ensure proper use of NID database

The Election Commission (EC) has decided to ensure proper use of the National Identity (NID) database for all citizens to help establish good governance and also to hold free and fair elections in the country, reports UNB.
This was revealed at a views exchange meeting on 'Use of National Identity Card' with different organisations, organized by the EC at a city hotel Wednesday.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dr ATM Shamsul Huda said the national identity card is being used for various purposes including issuance or renewal of passport and driving license, for buying mobile SIM cards and sale of lands.
