EC to start poll reform talks with parties soon: CEC

The Election Commission (EC) will send invitation to the political parties this month for discussing the proposed draft reforms on electoral laws, part of the present politico-electoral reform recipe, reports UNB.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) ATM Shamsul Huda Tuesday disclosed the EC's major preparatory step for the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, the main task of preparing digitised voter list with photographs in Khulna City Corporation and three municipalities starts on August 23 and in three other municipalities on August 19.
The EC has asked the authorities concerned of Rangpur, Comilla and Mymensingh municipalities to start registering the voters, taking their photograph and fingerprint through digitised method in the fixed registration centres from August 19.
On August 23, the task will start in Khulna City Corporation (KCC) area and Raozan, Sitakunda and Savar municipalities, according to EC work schedule.
Date for Bogra and Jessore municipalities is yet to be decided, but the authorities have been asked to start work after completion of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) registration activities that started on August 11 and would end on August 28.
The EC has already completed all the preparatory work aiming to formulate voter list with photograph and national identity (NID) card for KCC and the eight municipalities.
