\\\'EC to take legal steps, if anyone violates electoral rule\\\'

Election Commissioner M Shah Newaz said on Wednesday the Election Commission (EC) will take legal action against those who will violate electoral code of conduct, reports BSS.
"I urge all ministers, state ministers and government aided persons not to participate in the election campaign," he said when exchanging views with journalists at EC office in the city.
He said the ministers can visit different areas as part of their job. But as per the electoral code of conduct they are not allowed to participate in the election campaign.
He said the ministers can perform their regular tasks in the election areas. But if they try to influence the election campaign, we will take action against them, he added.
The commissioner said as per the report of returning officer the alleged minister didn't participate in the election campaign directly in Chittagong.
