EC to update voter list by Jan 31

The Election Commission (EC) has completed necessary preparations to update the voter list by this month, a source in the EC said in the city Monday, reports BSS.
"EC plans to update the voter list in line with its decision to do so every year by January 31," Election Commissioner M Sohul Hussein said.
Hussein expressed the hope that the work would be done in time.
Tens of thousands of citizens would be deprived of being enlisted in the voter list if the list is not updated, he added.
According to the EC, a total of 8,10,58,698 people were enlisted in the voter list along with pictures in 2008 and the number of voters increased to 8,57,47,363 the following year.
