EC warns of taking out processions

Thursday, 16 April 2015

In the wake of allegations of bringing out processions by the city polls contestants, Election Commissioner Shah Nawaz warned that anyone taking out any procession violating the election code of conduct would face tougher actions, reports UNB.
"We've already directed the returning officers to take legal actions against those taking out processions. We may even go for the maximum action of cancelling candidature in case of excesses," he told reporters at his Election Commission Secretariat office on Wednesday.
As per the election code of conduct, bringing out any procession is clearly unlawful, he added.
