ECNEC okays 4 projects

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday approved the 'Ensuring employment for the poor in Northern Region Programme' (2nd phase) at a cost of Tk 948.8 million to further alleviate poverty through creating employment opportunities in five districts of greater Rangpur. The approval came from the ECNEC meeting held at the NEC conference room in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar with ECNEC chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair. Briefing reporters after the meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said four development projects worth Tk 4,349.1 million were approved on Tuesday. He said that of the total project costs, Tk 3,172.4m will come from the government exchequer, Tk 995.9m as project assistance while Tk 180.8m from the own funds of the respective organisations, according to UNB.
