ECNEC okays 4 projects costing Tk 15.94b

The ECNEC Tuesday approved four development projects, costing a total of Tk 15.94 billion, to steer the growth of the national economy, officials said. Presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) endorsed the projects. The government's highest economic policy-making body approved a Tk 7.38 billion project, for construction of academic building of madrasas throughout the country. The ECNEC also okayed flood protection and water management in haor area project, costing Tk 6.85 billion, and construction of flood protection embankment and irrigation facility in Surma River project, costing Tk 460 million. The ECNEC meeting also revised the regional livestock and fisheries development (Barisal component) project at a cost of Tk 1.25 billion. Out of the total cost of Tk 15.94 billion for the four projects, the government will supply Tk 14.78 billion from its own resources, and the rest Tk 1.16 billion will come from the external resources.
