ECNEC okays 4 projects worth Tk 2,590cr

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday approved the ‘Enhancement of Capacity of Grid Substations and Transmission Line for Rural Electrification’ project costing TK 1,332.68 crore to improve rural power supply system in five divisions. The approval came from the ECNEC meeting held at the NEC conference room in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar with ECNEC chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair. Briefing reporters after the meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said that a total of four development projects involving Tk 2,590 crore were approved today. “Of the total project costs, Tk 636.38 crore will come from the government exchequer, Tk 1,746 crore will come from project assistance while Tk 207 crore from the own funds of the (respective) organisation,” according to UNB.
