
ECNEC to be digitised by Feb

Country's development project planning system and activities of ECNEC would be digitised by February next year replacing the traditional method to expedite the work process, reports BSS.
"Initially, the activities of 10 ministries will be digitised through newly developed software. If it functions successfully the same would be applied to 20 other ministries by February 2012," said Planning Minister Air Vice Marshal (retd) AK Khandker.
Official sources said the government is digitising the project planning system and activities of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) to gear up official works, and implementation, monitoring and evaluation process.
On completion of the project, the government would be able to save crores of taka through cutting use of papers and other related inputs, they said adding it will also help save labour and time.
They said after launching of the digital working system the work efficiency of the government machinery would increase and the system simultaneously would help to decrease stockpile of files and save time. The ministries and divisions to be digitised are: local government division, bridge division, rail division, water resources ministry, agriculture ministry, power division, industry ministry, energy and mineral resources ministry, education ministry, and primary and mass education ministry.
As part of introduction of the digitised project planning system the planning ministry held a workshop with different ministries and stakeholders Sunday in the NEC conference room to share the ideas.
"We are discussing with different ministries and stakeholders to share the ideas so that we can introduce the digitized system quickly," AK Kahndker who was present as the chief guest said.
Sources said, under the digital project planning system and ECNEC, all work like project drafting, filing, evaluation, assessment, finalisation and approval would be completed using computer.
