ECNEC to consider

The Executive Commi-ttee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meets today (Tuesday) to consider eight development projects
including a Tk 17.21 billion project for power transmission lines, reports UNB.ECNEC chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will preside over the 11th meeting of the current fiscal year.
The Bibiana-Kaliakoir 400 KV and Fenchuganj-Bibiana 230 KV Transmission Line Project under the Energy, Power and Mineral Resources Ministry will be completed by June 2013, said a source at the Planning Ministry.
The ECNEC meeting will also consider two railway track construction projects involving Tk 20.84 billion to revive the railway sector. The Kalukhali-Bhatiapara Section Rehabilitation and setting up of new Kashiani-Gopalganj-Tungipara railway track project will be implemented at a cost of Tk 11.01 billion while the new Ishwardi to Dhalarchar via Pabna railway track construction project implemented at a cost of Tk 9.83 billion.
The other projects to be considered in the meeting are the development of Salda 3, 4 and Fenchuganj 4, 5 gas fields, construction of aviation refueling facilities at Sylhet Osmani International Airport, poverty alleviation project through rearing and fattening cattle, 2nd crop diversification project, and establishment of 1,500 primary schools.
The ECNEC meeting is also likely to review the ADP implementation progress of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Ministry and the ECNEC approved projects from August 4-18, 2009.
