Economic zone to be set up on 1500-bigha land in Jamalpur: Azam

State Minister for Textile and Jute Mirza Azam has said that the government has taken a programme to set up an economic zone in Jamalpur district. ‘Export oriented industries with foreign and local investment would be set up in the economic zone in Jamalpur which will accommodate a large number of unemployed youths to boost the local economy,’ Azam said while addressing a function after inaugurating a paper mill in Khupi Bari area in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila on Sunday. He said the Jamalpur economic zone will be set up on 1,500 bighas of land. He said many industries were set up across the country in the last 6 years due to proper patronisation of the government. ‘With the setting up of the industries a large number of employment opportunities were created,’ he said. ‘Due to implementation of various development programmes in all sectors by the government, the per capita income in the country rose to 1,190 US dollar, the state minister added, according to a news agency.
