EC's role designed to split BNP at powerful quarter's behest

Putting the Election Commission (EC) in the dock, detained ex-PM and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's counsel Tuesday told the High Court that the EC's role is designed to split BNP at the behest of "a powerful quarter" ahead of the general election, reports UNB.
TH Khan, who made his concluding arguments encountering the logic placed by the EC and the BNP reformist group, said political party is recognised by the Constitution as an institution, and it is indispensable for democracy.
