Edible oil price still high

Even after fixation of price of loose edible oil by the government, a section of unscrupulous traders were charging arbitrary price for the item.
The government has fixed the price of a litre of soybean oil at Tk 91 and palm oil at Tk 82 at a meeting between the commerce minister and the edible oil refiners recently.
But a section of unscrupulous traders were selling loose soybean oil on kilogramme basis rather than litre. A kg of loose soybean oil was selling between Tk 102 and Tk 104 and palm oil between Tk 90 and Tk 92 Wednesday.
The move of the government to fix soybean oil price came amid sharp escalation of its price for the last few months, putting an extra financial burden on the limited income group of people.
