Editors' Council condemns attacks on journalists -

FE REPORT | Wednesday, 17 July 2024

The Editors' Council has expressed deep concern over the attacks on journalists on duties during the ongoing student movement for quota reforms in government jobs.
At least 25 journalists were attacked at different places of Dhaka city, Chattogram, Dinajpur and Bogura and Jahangirnagar University in the last two days during the movement, the council said in a statement on Tuesday.
"A good number of journalists were undergoing treatment in different hospitals," it reads.
"Such attacks on journalists are condemnable and also matters of great concerns as media men are engaged in collecting news stories and presenting them before the people."
Keeping these in view, the Editors' Council has urged all concerned, including student organisations and law enforcement agencies to ensure security for journalists while performing their professional duties.
