Wednesday, 23 December 2009

The government decided to direct all the educational institutions to start classes sharp on the first working day in January in the next academic session and the Education Ministry is ready with books for the students by overcoming all odds, reports UNB.
"We have already finished all necessary steps to reach textbooks to all the students in due time so that the next academic session can start from the first working day of January," Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said after an inter-ministerial meeting on the draft education policy at his ministry Tuesday.
He also said that the students would get their books before the next academic session as the textbooks have already been sent to most of the schools in the country.
The minister said the government has fixed 80 days' academic vacation list sans weekly holidays for the government and non-government high schools and primary schools in the next year following the next session from January to December.
"We do not want to waste a single day. Every working day has to be utilised for building a patriotic, skilled and educated generation," he told.
Meanwhile, he said, although classes in educational institutions would be closed on the national days, the institutions have to remain open to arrange special programmes with participation of students so that they can realise the significance of the days.
Nahid said that the government had issued a notification forbidding closure of schools during VIPs' visits.
In the notification the educational institutions have also been directed not to use their students to welcome any VIP guest keeping them standing on roadsides.
